What is floral preservation?Floral preservation is a process that extracts moisture from the flowers, sealing the color and the natural shape. The colors of the flowers are deepened and enhanced, leaving them as if they are still standing in water. |
Why bother preserving my flowers?Flowers are used to mark any number of occasions, from the happy to the heartbreaking moments we encounter. Floral preservation is a wonderful way of prolonging nature’s beauty indefinitely. You have to see our encasements to appreciate the quality and the professional, yet loving care that goes into every masterpiece.Preserved floral arrangements enhance the beauty and decor of any room. Each project is a customized piece representing a moment in time -- wedding flowers symbolizing joy and happiness, the birth of a child, beautiful flowers of tribute and honor in memory of loved ones who have passed away, Mother’s Day corsages, prom or homecoming corsages, birthday and anniversary arrangements. Special occasion flowers along with photographs and memorabilia, framed and encased, are a great way of Preserving the Moments that Matter® in our lives. |

Aren’t all preservation methods the same? Not at all. Suspended in Time® has developed a revolutionary process of drying and preserving floral arrangements. We have been using this method since 1997 and have not found any method that compares to the superior results of the Suspended in Time® method. To our knowledge, this is the only method available where your flowers can be dried in 3 to 5 days. Because this method dries the flowers quickly, they do not have the deterioration that plagues other drying methods. The flower color and shape retention is amazing with the Suspended in Time® method.Other methods may use multiple chemicals before, during, and after the drying process. Consider the following:*
Other preservationists will lead you to believe that their long, costly, and chemical-driven process is somehow superior -- don’t be fooled! |

Can any flower be preserved? The age and the condition of the flowers at the time we receive them plays a vital role in how well they preserve. It is important to take precautions with your flowers until you can get them to us. Flowers that have been deprived of moisture or that have wilted may need to be replaced. Make sure your florist knows that you plan to preserve your flowers, and ask that the flowers be as fresh as possible. If some of the blooms are damaged, we can replace them for a minimal fee.Preservation will cause some color changes in your flowers with any method used. White flowers may dry a creamy color and certain red flowers dry darker. Some flowers preserve better than others; most orchids, lilies, calla lilies, roses, and other popular wedding and funeral flowers preserve very well. Due to their natural makeup, flowers such as daisies and chrysanthemums need to be of the highest quality to be successfully preserved. Contact us if you are concerned about how well the flowers you intend to use will preserve. |

What happens to my bouquet once you get it?In order to completely extract the moisture from flowers, we will disassemble the bouquet, separating each flower from the others before we dry them. It is extremely important to completely dry each individual flower because any moisture left in the flower could cause mold to develop over time, spoiling your beautiful heirloom. Here is a breakdown of what we will do once your flowers are in our possession:
How long does the preservation process take?We can have your bouquet dried in 3 to 5 days. Depending on the encasement you have chosen and other variables, such as other customer commitments, we can have your encasement finished in 2-6 weeks in most cases. Suspended in Time® of Metro Denver reserves the right to extend this timeframe as needed. Orders may be rushed, but extra fees will apply. |
How long will my flowers last after dehydration?Suspended in Time® of Metro Denver specializes in heirloom quality preservation of floral memories that will last through the generations under normal conditions. Many of our encasements are virtually airtight and UV protected, which keeps the flowers protected from dust and other damaging elements. It is up to you, the customer, to do your part in taking care of your heirloom. We include complete care instructions with every finished product so that you will know how to protect and take care of your keepsake. Those instructions include never using any cleaning products on your frames or domes (use only a cotton cloth and water if necessary), keeping your encasement away from swamp coolers or other water sources, and keeping your encasement away from direct light (both sunlight and harsh indoor lights directly shining on encasement). We do not warrant against fading, scratches, or moisture damage. As a general rule, unless your encasement has been dropped or mishandled, it should remain beautiful for generations to come. |

If I decide I want to preserve my flowers, what are my next steps?First, contact us to get on our calendar. During the busy bridal season, it is important that you reserve your spot on our schedule. We realize, however, that the unforeseen happens, such as the sudden death of a loved one. Please call us in these situations, and we will find a way to accommodate your request.Second, work with your florist to make sure that they know you will be preserving your flowers. Some florists may use sprays and glues on your flowers which can make it difficult for us to preserve them. By informing your florist that the flowers will be preserved, they can avoid using these products on your arrangement. Once you know the types of flowers to be used in your arrangement, please share that information with us. We can work with you and your florist regarding the types of flowers that preserve the best. Third, we recommend that you pick your the encasement prior to your event if at all possible. Although this can be done when the flowers are delivered to us, we recommend instead that this be taken care of early so that we can be sure to have all supplies readily available. Call us to arrange a time to come in to choose your encasement and discuss all the options available to you. Before we order your encasement or start the drying process, you will be asked to put down a non-refundable deposit. Next, deliver your flowers to us as soon as possible. If your event was unplanned or has already occurred, we ask that you act quickly -- the fresher your flowers, the better the results. It is best if we receive flowers no later than 2-3 days after your event. Until you can get them to us, be sure to keep the flowers hydrated and store them in a cool place, such as a refrigerator. Lastly, we will notify you when your flowers are ready – you can then pick up your beautiful keepsake and enjoy it for years to come!! |

All of our encasements are made from the finest materials available. We offer a wide selection of frames, shadowboxes, table domes, glass boxes, and jewelry boxes. Our smallest encasements start as low as $35. Our largest encasements are between $284 and $594*. Prices include all consultations, the preservation process, your choice of encasement, all encasement supplies, an archival quality mat, and a personalized engraved inscription. Extras such as replacement flowers, pickup service, gold or silver finishes, and specialty mats are an additional charge.*Prices subject to change Suspended in Time of Metro Denver accepts cash, checks, Visa and MasterCard. A $25 fee will be assessed for any returned check. A deposit of $50 will be required before we can begin the drying process with the balance due upon completion of your project. Because we do not want price to deter anyone from the lasting pleasure these heirlooms bring, we can work out a payment plan that fits your situation. Your keepsake will be released to you once final payment has been received. |
What happens if I change my mind after you’ve started the process?Although you have the option of canceling your order at any time, we highly recommend that you let us complete the process once it has started. We cannot guarantee the condition of the flowers if the process is interrupted before completion. Therefore, any order that is canceled before completion will forfeit the deposit, and the flowers will be returned in their current condition at the time of cancellation. |
What if I don’t live in the Denver area?No problem! Suspended in Time® has dealers all over the country. Check the corporate website to find a dealer near you. |
Do I have to encase my flowers?Although it is possible to dry your flowers without encasing them, we do not recommend doing so. Dried flowers are fragile. Over time, dust and dirt will collect on these flowers, and there is no way to clean them without damaging them. In addition, exposed dried flowers cannot be protected against humidity, fading or sun damage. Lastly, non-encased flowers can be accidentally jolted, damaging them beyond repair. By encasing your floral treasure, all these environmental issues can be eliminated, leaving you with an heirloom that can be enjoyed for years to come. |
What happens if I can’t pick up my flowers right away?Once the order is ready for pick-up, you will be notified by phone and/or email. Flowers not picked up within 30 days after notification will be charged a storage fee of $1 per day.If you have made arrangements to pay for your encasement via our payment plan, we will hold the encasement until paid in full. After final payment, you will have 30 days to pick up your encasement. If not picked up within that timeframe, you will be charged a storage fee of $1 per day. |
